News Roundup! Small but significante updates around…

Pretty much I will be writing “News Roundup” posts because a lot of news out there is important, but I can’t write a whole article on it, so I will summarize it and link to another source.

Twitter announces it will be offering paid services to business and premium users soon! Reports were saying that Twitter was going to force these “fees” on companies, however Twitter responded with a blog post telling everyone the fees are not going to be “forced”. I think this is a good opportunity for companies and …

Twisten.fm: Discover Music on Twitter! Maybe…

I noticed a new service offered by my wonderful friends over at Grooveshark the other day, Twisten.FM . I was intrigued by what they said it did: Discover music through Twitter. I decided to check it out, and I gave them (grooveshark) my twitter email and password. Hopefully, they will support OAuth when Twitter finally releases it. I know some of the members at Grooveshark and I would trust them with my login; they aren’t going to “hack” you or anything, they just need your following list so they can …

Spotify closed to USA? :(

Spotify users in the USA have been denied access and presented with a “Why is Spotify not available in my country?” message on the homepage and a link to a post about the recent ban in countries. The post is here and just says that your IP is in the United States and they cannot offer services in that country. Also, a post on Spotify’s Blog explains into more detail the changes and the reasons for the …

Woopra Web Analytics: From Awesome! to huh?!? Then to better…

I have used Woopra for a long time now and so far my experiences have been fairly good. They are a beta service, but yet there hasn’t been too many hiccups along the way. I like the fact that they are free, but they will go paid, they said. I don’t know if I’m ready to pay for them yet, but depending on the price I might shell out $5 a month for them, but with so many free alternatives (Google Analytics), its not very promising.
Recently however, I have had …

Twitter Adopts OAuth! Releases Private Beta…

After seeing the tweet by (and the accomping post), I had to send Alex Payne an email and get my name on that list before it was too late! (See: Tweet) I was accepted within minutes and now I await instructions (eagerly refreshing inbox).
People have been kicking and screaming for OAuth support on Twitter for months now (See: Discussion 1, Discussion 2). Personally, I think that the Twitter API team could have came up with a custom, easier solution, but they decided against that and started work on OAuth. …

Google’s New Favicon

As you may have noticed, Google.com and related sites got a new set of favicons. They went from the old, blue “g” to a new colorful puzzle sort-of icon.  The new icon still contains that “g” however it is surrounded by contrasting colors and looks a lot more Web 2.0 than their old favicon.
The new favicon seems to only apply to Google Search, Maps, News, Shopping and other “search” portions of Google. Analytics, Gmail and YouTube all have their same old icons. YouTube’s icon is in the worst shape, with …
