How to Save Linerider 2 Track Data to Thumb Drive

I spent my entire computer class today creating a LineRider 2 track (which was pretty amazing haha), but I was a little frustrated when I had to log off and go to the next class because I would lose all of my data. The computers at my school have “deep freeze” software installed, which restores the computer to a certain state every time the computer is rebooted (almost like a system restore). This means the data that I saved on that computer’s internal memory would be erased and I would lose my LineRider save.
I looked into where the data was stored when saving a game on LineRider 2 and I decided I would copy the files onto a thumb drive so I could restore a save no matter where I was or what computer I was on.
To save your LineRider 2 track onto a thumb drive (assuming you have already drawn a track and saved it within the flash game) (for Windows users), follow these easy steps:
- First, make sure you have saved your LineRider 2 track.
- Next, in Windows Explorer, go to: C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAMEHERE\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects (Replace YOURUSERNAMEHERE with your computer username).
- Now there should be one folder in that folder. Browse into it.
- Next, click on the folder of the domain name that your LineRider flash game is on.
- Within that folder, there should be a file called “savedLines.sol” in it. Copy that onto your thumb drive or wherever you wish.
You have successfully saved your track.
To restore a save, follow these steps:
- In your web browser, visit a website with LineRider 2.
- Next, wait on the start screen (Do not click Play yet).
- Now, in Windows Explorer, go to: C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAMEHERE\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects (Replace YOURUSERNAMEHERE with your computer username)
- Now there should be one folder in that folder. Browse into it.
- Next, click on the folder of the domain name that your LineRider flash game is on.
- Locate the “savedLines.sol” file on your external device (or wherever you saved it in the first set of steps)
- Copy that file into the folder of the domain name of your flash game.
- Finally, go back to the website and click “Play”. Now you can load your game like normal.
You have successfully restored a LineRider 2 save.
You can do this on any computer that can play LineRider 2. Now you can work on your LineRider track wherever you are.
Here is a small creation of mine while in computer class (I just started it): http://download44.mediafire.com/29g1z0xkndmg/jnnngzj4gmf/linerider.avi

You will need access to the hard drive to be able to manipulate the files, otherwise I’m not sure how you could.
