Finally, free phone calls on your iPhone… TruPhone lets you make VoIP phone calls over the internet (as long as you have a WiFi connection) and you don’t pay a dime. The only downside is that you can only make free VoIP calls to people who have the TruPhone App on their device. Its comparable to Skype, another popular VoIP application. TruePhone also allows you to make phone calls to landlines and other mobile devices without the App for extremely low rates.

Not only does TruPhone work on your iPhone, but also the iPod Touch, Nokia Phones, and Blackberries. TruPhone for other mobile devices is currently in development. You can see a list of devices on the Devices Page.

With the iPod Touch, you will need to have a headset with a microphone or some sort of microphone adapter because the iPod Touch does not have a built in microphone. The iPod Touch version of TruPhone includes instant messaging that supports MSN, Yahoo!, and Google Talk (Some other devices are compatible with instant messaging on TruPhone).

If you or your friends have compatible devices, you should get them to download this application so you don’t have to pay to call them when you are in a WiFi area.
